TR BAND removal protocol

RADIAL ACCESS PROTOCOL

Before going to the catheterization laboratory (cathlab), the patient is examined, and blood pressure is checked. A physician checks the hand through which the intervention will be performed and the pulse of the ulnar and radial arteries to see if artery occlusion is present or not. Intervention is initiated primarily on the radial artery using the Radifocus Introducer II Transradial Kit while choosing the most optimal sheat size.

TR BANDTM APPLICATION PROTOCOL

After the procedure, the sheath is withdrawn 2-3 cm and the TR band is put on while aligning the green marker, then air is inflated up to 18 ml and then released until the first drop of blood. When minimal blood appears, 1-2 ml is returned to the band so that there is no bleeding, but the radial artery is not over compressed. The amount of air inflated is written on the TR band of the patient. The protocol also records which parenteral therapy was used (usually it is heparin) and the amount of it, this information is passed to daycare unit nurses. Blood pressure is measured again after the intervention. Then the patient is taken to the day care unit to continue releasing and monitoring the TR band.

TR BANDTM DEFLATION & REMOVAL PROTOCOL

DISCHARGE PROTOCOL

The protocol notes whether there will be someone to take care of the patient, such as relatives, and whether transportation will be provided. The patient is given instructions on how to proceed in the event of complications. Then the patient is released while accompanied by a relative or transport is arranged.

TIPS & TRICKS TO IMPROVE RADIAL ACCESS & DAILY WORKLOAD

The patient is stressed already so only heartfelt work and professional preparation starting step by step from the Barbeu test until discharge can leave them calmer without complications. Each step is very important, but the main one is that the artery should be compressed but not over-compressed.
